BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary/Extended Diploma in Hospitality

Why study the subject?

A BTEC Level 3 is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

The course introduces you to hospitality and related industries and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work related qualification. The school has a partnership with University College Birmingham and students can progress to a degree course there if they complete the course successfully.

Course Content

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A Level.

The BTEC Extended Diploma is equivalent to three full A Levels.

The units include:

  • The Hospitality Industry
  • Principles of supervising customer service performance in Hospitality, Leisure and Travel and Tourism
  • Providing Customer Service in Hospitality
  • European Food
  • This qualification provides a good grounding to go on to:
  • A Degree in Hospitality or Higher Level Apprenticeship


All units are assessed graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded at Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.
